This is shaping up to be another great event!
Great topic…and good for you for using the OSF as a platform for education! I was fishing in Long Beach Harbor with Bill years ago and hooked a large (empty) leaf bag, and broke my 9-weight rod. I didn’t take proper account of the weight of the water-inflated bag. I also joined Heal The Bay when I learned about trash being intentionally piped into the ocean offshore by L.A. WTF!? Making the ocean a dumpster is insane. I got into a discussion about plastic with Ralph Cutter years ago over fluorocarbon use. He abhors FC because it takes centuries to degrade. I argued that because FC is more expensive (and improved my catch rate) I take better care of it. BTW, I was defending FC leaders…not spools of FC line. What I found out is that whereas fluoro takes 4,000 years to decompose, mono still takes 600 years to decompose. My takeaway wasn’t about who’s right or wrong, but that these discussions make for better awareness and better stewardship. Date: Fri, 5 Feb 2016 17:39:50 +0000 To: firstname.lastname@example.org
